In 1882, the site of the former World of Cars on Woodborough Road in Mapperley was an active brickworks. Mapperley Brickworks Ltd occupied the site at the turn of the 1900’s complete with tramway system and rail turntable.
By the 1950’s the site was home to a packing case factory and a builder’s yard and first became a garage and forecourt in 1965. Home to Millennium Motors in the 1990’s and latterly World of Cars, the site fell into decline and by 2017 all activities had ceased.
