Daylight Simulation carried out by Encon Associates BREEAM & Energy Division
Commissioned by Savills to carry out multiple consultancy services to demonstrate building performance levels against the 2014 BREEAM standards, the daylight assessment route 2 concluded that the total average lux levels achieved the minimum requirement, gaining the three BREEAM credits available.
The warehouse, located on the southern side of Challenge Way in a small industrial estate to the western outskirts of Wigan, the site is close to the M6 motorway which runs north to south just west of the industrial estate.
The proposed alterations involved the refurbishment of the existing warehouse and reconfiguration of the car park.
Being appointed for multiple consultancy services on this project, it allowed the BREEAM assessment to run smoother at Design Stage. The client found the assessment process more cohesive when dealing with a single consultant to deliver multiple BREEAM credits, rather than a large design team with the potential for miscommunication. .
