British Red Cross Resource Centre achieves BREEAM Very Good at Design Stage
Working under the appointment of Sursham Tompkins, an Architect and Project management firm based in Northampton, Encon Associates are delighted to certify this First Aid training centre as BREEAM Very Good.
The project itself is complete, but administrative work is still underway before pushing on with the final Post-Construction stage BREEAM certification.
Constructed by Borras Construction of St Albans, this project took 38 weeks to construct with a construction value of £1.25m. Now complete, the British Red Cross Resource Centre will be mainly used for First Aid training, but also has additional office space for various purposes.
Sustainable Construction
Most projects like this New Build will have a BREEAM rating required, which is a method in which rates and certifies the sustainability of buildings. This method is used worldwide and compulsory on the vast majority of commercial buildings across England.
Having worked as a very close design team throughout this project, the target of BREEAM Very Good for design stage is now complete, achieving its required Very Good.
Post-Construction Assessment
The next step is to gather and collate the evidence for the final 'as-built' assessment known as the Post-Construction Stage assessment. A post-construction review provides evidence that the building’s ‘as built’ performance and rating is in accordance with that certified at the design stage certification, in this case, Very Good.
