Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Centre
Encon Associates were commissioned by Kagyu Samye Dzong London, Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Centre for World Peace and Health, which is part of Rokpa Trust registered charity.

The proposed scheme to re-develop a Grade II listed former library building in the heart of London, was to create a building which provided public spaces for the wider community, for courses such as meditation, tai chi and yoga, as well as ancillary residential accommodation for the Buddhist community.
This complex scheme required a Bespoke BREEAM Assessment to determine what approach was required to ensure the building was converted with the highest regard for sustainability and the environment, which is at the core of the Trust’s philosophy.

Encon Associates were employed by ourselves as BREEAM Assessor and Approved Professional on 3 contracts running concurrently in Sheffield. At all times through the project they were able to provide clear detailed advice on requirements to ourselves and our supply chain, and were able to offer additional services where required (including compiling the Tenant Green Guide Specification).
The use of the IES TaP for BREEAM portal has proved a useful tool in tracking the BREEAM process, providing us as a main contractor a simple and user friendly way to co-ordinate the BREEAM evidence requirements with the designers and our supply chain.
The team have promptly assessed evidence when received and provided detailed feedback to ensure any compliance issues were understood – we would have no hesitation in employing Encon Associates on our future BREEAM schemes.
