Whole Life Carbon

Whole Life Carbon refers to the total greenhouse gas emissions resulting from all stages of a building’s life cycle. It combines embodied carbon (emissions from materials and construction) with operational carbon (emissions from energy use during the building’s use phase). By analysing both elements together, WLC assessments enable a more accurate picture of a development’s true environmental impact, supporting net-zero carbon strategies and alignment with frameworks such as RIBA 2030 and LETI.
