PSI Calculations

Reliable junction heat-loss values for robust energy modelling

PSI calculations quantify heat loss occurring at junctions such as wall-to-floor, wall-to-roof and openings. Default values within SAP or SBEM are intentionally conservative and can significantly penalise your building performance.

By modelling actual construction details, we help reduce calculated heat loss, improve EPC ratings and support compliance with Part L requirements. Our reports also highlight potential condensation risks and provide practical improvement guidance where required.

At Encon Associates we produce detailed 2D and 3D thermal modelling in accordance with BR 497 and ISO 10211 methodologies.

Thermal Bridging

Optimising energy performance eliminating hidden heat loss and condensation risks at critical junctions in residential buildings

Thermal bridges occur where insulation is interrupted or reduced, creating areas of increased heat transfer. If not addressed, they can lead to excessive energy loss, cold internal surfaces and mould growth.

Our thermal bridging assessments analyse junction performance and surface temperatures to identify risk areas within the building envelope. We assess both regulatory compliance and real-world performance, helping design teams create robust and buildable details.

Where needed, we provide improvement recommendations to achieve acceptable temperature factors and minimise condensation risk  supporting healthier, more energy-efficient buildings.
