Encon Associates worked with architects YMD Boon to discharge the planning conditions relating to landscaping but also meet the environmental criteria under the BREEAM Assessment for this project.

Details: Assisting YMD Boon on their appointment for multidisciplinary services of Harris CofE School, using Landscape Architecture to achieve BREEAM requirements.

The project compromised of a major extension and a refurbishment to an existing secondary school. The new two storey block feature entrance, staff and Admin Facilities, English Department, Library, Assembly Hall and Toilets, plus additional car parking and security features. The refurbishment phase resulted in a new Drama department and ICT suite, refurbished Lab spaces, Foreign Languages, Maths, Humanities, Art and Music Departments.

The scheme involved the design of new shrub and tree planting to provide a visual enhancement to the car parking areas and the new school entrance, designed with BREEAM compliance in mind, whilst also satisfying the local planning authority.
