About BREEAM 2011 Assessments
BREEAM 2011 was released on 1 July 2011 to replace the previous BREEAM 2008 methodology. Unlike its predecessor, the 2011 standard combined all schemes to cover different building types, thereby making everything more efficient and streamlined.
Besides the common building types, the 2011 iteration of the BREEAM methodology also applies to a range of buildings that previously required the BREEAM Bespoke Criteria. The following building types can be evaluated using the BREEAM 2011 assessment methodology:
- Residential institutions, e.g. hotels, hostels and training centres.
- Non-residential institutions, e.g. community buildings, museums and libraries.
- Assembly and leisure buildings, e.g. cinemas, information centres and sports centres.
- Transport hubs, e.g. train and bus stations.
The 2011 standards were subsequently replaced by BREEAM 2014 and 2018. However, there are projects that have been pre-registered or are contractually obliged to be evaluated under this specific assessment method.
