BREEAM Very good for Frith Manor Swimming Pool. Encon Associates do it again!
Continuing the success of BREEAM Excellent for Willowfield College and then Welbeck Street, Encon Associates are delighted to confirm BREEAM ‘Very good’ for Frith Manor Swimming Pool.
Planning permission was granted back in 2013 to build the Community swimming pool on the disused land, behind Frith Manor Primary School. The private investor had been negotiating terms of the lease with Barnet Borough Council for 8 years, at the point of acceptance.
Privately Funded, Sustainably Motivated
The project was privately funded by Jonathan Rolfe, who’s parents set up Oakleigh Park School of Swimming back in 1975. Eager to follow in his parent’s’ footsteps, Mr. Rolfe decided from the outset that this should be a sustainable development project and agreed for it to achieve a BREEAM rating Very Good. This decision was taken without any external pressure from the Local Authority.
The current school already benefits from on-site renewables, in the form of a small wind turbine and a large PV array, and the swimming pool had to be built with the same considerations
