The HQM shows the building’s impact on occupant health and wellbeing, which is an increasingly important consideration for developers and house buyers given the aging UK population and the rising number of people suffering from respiratory illnesses. With increased pressures on the building industry to produce more airtight buildings in order to reduce energy consumption, the HQM will also have an important role to play when considering indoor air quality and summer overheating, both of which are important influencers of occupant health and wellbeing.
