Heritage Skills Centre

Encon Associates were commissioned by Lincolnshire County Council  to carry out a BREEAM Education Assessment in order to mitigate a HLF (Heritage Lottery Fund), ERD (European Development Fund) and Planning conditions with a target to achieve a "Very Good" rating.  Other services provided included Daylight Simulation and Analysis, BREEAM Sustainability Champion services both Design Stage and Construction Stage.

The Project

The Heritage Skills Centre is a focus for heritage crafts and skills development in Lincolnshire. It provides hands on experience and training through taster days, short courses and demonstrations in craft, conservation and traditional building skills. As well as running a range of courses for homeowners, hobbyists, contractors, professionals and education groups, the Heritage Skills Centre hosts a variety of temporary exhibitions to showcase the work of craftspeople and artists from across the region and runs hands on activities for the public.  

The Result

Encon Associates BREEAM Assessors were appointed to provide BREEAM Assessment services for the fully fitted out centre which was certified to the BREEAM Very Good target.  The project also achieved an “Outstanding” rating for Energy due to purpose built heat recovery units and an increase in ecological value due to living roof across entire roof envelope.
