Having identified and purchased the land, the design is starting to take shape. Working towards Passivhaus, or Passive House, standards, requires a very meticulous approach, ensuring airtight spaces that have high-quality indoor air quality and comfort levels, by heating and cooling with minimal energy use.
The Project
Step one was to locate and purchase property and land on Shelt Hill, Woodborough in Nottingham. The architect on this project is Green 4 Architects, and with designs in hand, Encon Associates will be developing this period cottage property with barn, into a fantastic Passivhaus property. Demolition of one building, and the renovation of a second building, with extensions, this project will result in a large family home, overlooking the open fields of Nottinghamshire.
The Process
In true Grand Designs style, director Glenn Miles has acquired an onsite static home to live on site and project-manage the process over a 12-18 month period. By being onsite, Encon Associates director Glenn Miles will manage this project from conception to completion.
Foundations laid, things could move a lot quicker now...
As you can see, the houses are completely gone, the foundations are down and there is starting to be some structural foundations laid! With Spring 2018 knocking on the door (above photo is prior to the Beast from the East Snow Storm), we hope to start seeing some big changes for this passivhaus standard build through 2018!
